Bob Luchene and I just finished kicking the tires on the AutoSys 24.2 install. We always get our hands dirty with the new tech before we even think about helping you guys with an upgrade – it’s just how we do things at RMT.
The Big Winner: UI for Your Secrets
If you talk to the beta testers, the hands-down favorite feature isn’t some complex algorithm; it’s the fact that you can finally manage security profile credentials and secrets directly in the Web UI. No more jumping into the auto_secure CLI menu just to update a password or a token.
It’s about giving your teams self-service power while keeping the administrators’ hair from turning gray.
What Else is in the Box?
We’re seeing a real shift toward making the system “talk” better when things go sideways:
Infrastructure Alarms: Your helpdesk integration now handles “non-job” alarms, like database issues or failovers, so you aren’t stuck scraping logs like it’s 1999.
Persistence: If your helpdesk goes down, AutoSys holds onto the ticket data and opens it once the gates are back open.
Smart Patterns: You can use job naming patterns to trigger tickets for entire applications instead of manually updating 500,000 individual job definitions.
Silent Installs: We’ve got silent installation for SAP and Web Services agents now, making your DevOps pipelines actually feel like pipelines.
The Path Ahead: V26 and the AI Quest
Broadcom is moving toward what they call an “Intelligent Control Plane,” and version 26 is the next major milestone later this year. Here’s the map for the journey:
AI Integration: We’re talking AI-powered root cause analysis to tell you why a job failed and MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers that let your preferred LLM interact with AutoSys data.
Containerization: You’ll soon be able to deploy AutoSys in containers, making upgrades cookie cutter across every instance.
Natural Language: Eventually, you’ll be able to describe a workflow in plain English and let the AI build the JIL for you.
The AutoSys Execution-Based Licensing Webinar: Mark your calendars for May 6 at noon EST. I’m doing a technical dive to show you how RMT is slashing AutoSys migration timelines by 90% and allowing for execution-based planning. If you want to cut your job failures in half and see how I’m leading the charge on high-performance environments, you need to be in the room. You can register for the live session or catch the on-demand replay here.
If you’re feeling the “initiation” phase of an upgrade, RMT is here to help you integrate it. We’ve already done the heavy lifting, so you don’t have to.
